James Edwards

James is a Master Mariner with extensive experience in the shipping industry, sailing worldwide across a variety of vessel types and also working in shore management.

During the sea-going phase of his career, James worked on container ships, general cargo and bulk carriers, RoRo freight vessels, cruise liners and passenger ferries.

Before joining Stann, James spent over two years in the head office of a major shipping company, where he worked in the Crisis Response Department, providing routine and emergency monitoring and support whilst ensuring compliance with company, national and international safety, legal and regulatory standards. Prior to this, James worked at a maritime consultancy where his work included casualty investigation and port feasibility studies. His experience at sea and ashore makes James an excellent choice both for managing onboard incidents and delivering timely, effective operational solutions.

As well as a Master Mariner’s licence, James also holds a BSc (Hons) in Navigation and Maritime Science, providing a strong academic background to complement his practical expertise. James is also a certified ISM lead auditor.
